Glue: A Tribute to the Music of Duran Duran has been embraced by Duran Duran fans worldwide, being the only true “fan” tribute album to the group. It’s ecclectic lineup of indie acts had immediate appeal, breaking CD Baby one-day sales records back in the day and proving that there was a place in the market for “the little CD that could”. It’s still a favorite of many collections, which is why supply is running low!

Duran Duran

An urgent message from Glue’s producer:

“Dear fellow Duranies,

Some of you may remember me from the days of Tigerlist or DDLives on AOL. I was first known as FemmeFrets there, but eventually I became the girl who produced Glue: A Tribute to the Music of Duran Duran, the first (and I’m pretty sure only) Duran Duran tribute album that was made by fans, for fans.

Glue came out of disappointment: The Duran Duran Tribute Album had been released by Mojo, and all of the lists, messageboards, and fanzines were horrified by it! There were some great interpretations on it, but most fans just plain didn’t like it. Ska definitely wasn’t their thing, and Duran Duran wasn’t something they wanted humor invoked into!

The project was actually started by someone else, not me (tsk), but when it looked like it was going to get shelved altogether, I saw a chance to do something great. I had just founded my record label the year before, and to think that my first release could be a tribute to my biggest influence…yeah, I was in!

Trust the Process…

It didn’t take long to assemble an amazing lineup of talented fans. I only had to put the word out on a few fan sites, and suddenly I was inundated by bands who loved Duran as much as I do. When I started receiving tapes and CDs in the mail, I didn’t even blink at the fact that some of the songs were covered by more than one band. I knew the talent and creativity of these individuals was worthy of taking the risk. I also know how much my fellow Duran collectors love to have every version of their favorite songs, so how could I have kept them all to myself?

I expected to sell them to hardcore fans, but I was blown away when we started breaking preorder records! My distributor asked me what I was doing that worked out so right, and the answer wasn’t hard: when you love something so much, and you put your all into it, the people who feel the same way respond.

I was also so proud to help support one of the best organizations out there by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network. Each one of you who’ve bought a copy should be, too!

Goodbye is Forever…

It almost makes me kind of sad to look at my CD inventory shelf and see Glue’s stack getting smaller and smaller. I’ll miss it! I know the day is close when my lonely little first copy will be all that I’ll have. But I’ll never forget this wonderful experience, and all of the incredible people I’ve met because of it.

Definitely, if you haven’t yet, click the “Buy Now” button below before they’re completely gone (except for my copy!). I’ll even throw in a second copy absolutely free, so you can share it with a friend! I’ll pack them both up and mail them right out to you myself. I’d love for this to be an opportunity to connect with you!

P.S. If you already have Glue, great! You might have a copy that has the ‘old’ DIY artwork that I’ve since had professionally redone. I want to get you the NEW stuff, so drop me your address and I’ll get it right to you, free of charge! Plus, it will just be great to be able to say “hi” again!”

What other fans said about Glue: A Tribute to the Music of Duran Duran:

“I thoroughly enjoyed this cd, it is definitely the better of the Duran Duran tributes out there.”
–Mikey D

“The CD absolutely rocks. It’s the best tribute to Duran Duran I’ve heard. Duran Duran fans should buy it, they’ll be impressed.”
–stoldark

“I really liked this CD. It’s a great way to show a tribute to my favorite band ever, Duran Duran. All the artists did an awesome job.”
–Katie

“It was, and still is, an honor to be a part of “Glue.” In addition to
being a great opportunity to pay tribute to my favorite band, “Glue”
introduced me to R.A.I.N.N., a great charity whose mission is an important
one to support. “Glue” also marked the first time I shared music I’d
recorded with the public, so it was something of a personal triumph for
me.”

Nathan Stack

“It’s always interesting to see how other musicians translate the music of Duran Duran, with “Glue” the results are nothing short of surprising. The ill-conceived punk/ska tribute and Austrailian band packages are blown away by “Glue.”…The music of Duran Duran will endure. “Glue” will solidify any Duranie’s obsessive fascination.”
–JumpStreet

“Fun to be had by all. Duranies everywhere should get a great kick out of this CD. I liked the fact that the B-Sides were represented here…Highly recommended by this picky bastard!”
–Michael

“I didn’t realize when I produced this CD how much it would resonate with fans for so many years. The music truly has been the ‘glue’ that continues to connect so many of us together!”Dana Detrick
